The Wellness Science Initiative teaches foundational knowledge in biology, chemistry, physics, and related fields, together with the principles of scientific reasoning. By helping you understand scientific terminology, evidence, and methods, WSI empowers you to more effectively evaluate health and wellness claims. We are building a community grounded in open-minded skepticism and intellectual humility, equipping you to apply the same standards and principles to all claims, regardless of whether they come from scientists, institutions, companies, or influencers.
With conflicting health messages coming from every direction, many people are left wondering whom to trust, what to believe, and which actions are right for them. WSI does not tell you what to think or whom to follow. We teach you how to evaluate information, examine your own thinking, and ask better questions so that you can make informed wellness decisions suited to your individual circumstances.

Evidence can inform a decision, but it cannot by itself determine what matters most or what should be done. Learn to apply evidence in light of your goals, values, individual circumstances, and the possible effects on others.
Clarify your goals, priorities, and responsibilities
Weigh potential benefits, risks, costs, burdens, and uncertainty
Distinguish factual questions from value judgments
Consider ethical issues and perspectives you may not have encountered
Make informed decisions suited to individual and community circumstances
Make informed choices aligned with your values and responsibilities.

Meaningful learning requires engagement with people who do not always begin with the same assumptions or reach the same conclusions. WSI brings together individuals with different scientific, professional, cultural, and wellness perspectives so that ideas can be examined through constructive dialogue rather than accepted or dismissed because of who expressed them.
We welcome different perspectives, but we do not assume that all claims are equally well supported. Our shared commitment is to ask better questions, evaluate evidence consistently, acknowledge uncertainty, and remain willing to revise our views. Disagreement does not diminish our shared dignity or our common interest in improving human health.

In today’s wellness landscape, many people find themselves:
Unsure whom to trust
Unsure of what to even believe
Confused by conflicting claims
Struggling to separate evidence from opinion
Misled by hype, credentials, or hidden incentives
Uncertain which advice applies to their own situation
These challenges can make health decisions feel overwhelming, frustrating, and deeply personal.
Imagine having the tools to:
Understand the difference between evidence, opinion, and speculation
Evaluate claims without becoming cynical or closed-minded
Recognize when expert guidance is helpful, and when more questions are needed
Make decisions aligned with both the facts and your personal values
Reduce wasted time, money, and confusion in your wellness journey
Help build a community committed to truth, humility, and better thinking
WSI helps you learn from scientists, clinicians, educators, companies, and influencers without blindly depending on any single authority.
Test and improve your ability to think through claims by participating in WSI events. Improve your ability to analyze information through interactive challenges and competitions inside our community. Engage with and learn from others as you strengthen your own thinking while helping others in their personal journey. Rather than rewarding knowledge alone, WSI recognizes participants who actively engage, improve over time, and demonstrate strong critical thinking skills built on foundational knowledge.

If there really were an intervention that could meaningfully improve health, longevity, and quality of life, you would not want to miss it. At the same time, when every product and wellness guru promises extraordinary results, it can be difficult to separate genuine opportunities from empty marketing. Learning to ask the right questions and critically evaluate wellness claims helps you avoid wasting time and money on ineffective interventions, while remaining open to those that may genuinely be worth considering.

Organized by the Molecular Hydrogen Institute (MHI), a 501(c)(3) science-based nonprofit, WSI builds on MHI’s work in research, education, and awareness of molecular hydrogen as a potential therapeutic gas. MHI’s certification pathways have long taught critical thinking, scientific literacy, and the foundational science related to molecular hydrogen. Through WSI, these same principles are now being expanded to the broader wellness sector.

I love teaching. More specifically, I am passionate about helping people learn how to learn, think more clearly, and evaluate ideas for themselves.
Most of what we believe feels logical to us, and that is precisely the challenge. False or incomplete information can seem convincing when it is presented in a logical-sounding way. Critical thinking helps us recognize the difference between something that merely sounds reasonable and something that is actually supported by good evidence. It is also a skill that can be learned, practiced, and applied far beyond our own areas of expertise.
Access to information has never been greater, yet it has far outpaced our ability to critically evaluate it. Many people find themselves overwhelmed by conflicting opinions, competing studies, persuasive marketing, and confident voices all claiming to have the answers.
At WSI, our mission is not to tell people what to think, but to help them think more clearly. The methods used to reach conclusions are just as important as the conclusions themselves. Science derives its authority from evidence, not the other way around. Scientific thinking means following the evidence, applying consistent standards regardless of who is making the claim, and remaining willing to change our minds when better evidence emerges. Scientists, institutions, companies, influencers, and wellness advocates should all be held accountable to the quality of their evidence and reasoning.
This is why WSI welcomes people from all backgrounds and perspectives, including scientists, clinicians, wellness advocates, content creators, and anyone seeking better answers. Engaging with different viewpoints allows us to build a community that rewards curiosity, intellectual honesty, and thoughtful evaluation over tribalism and blind allegiance.
The future of wellness depends not only on better information, but on better ways of evaluating it. That is the mission of the Wellness Science Initiative.

Nicole Crowley

"I loved that the info was broken up into easily digestible parts :)"
Anne Nilsson

"It is concise yet humbly presented. Love this!"
Olga Gribble

"All of it, it was easy to understand, definitely taught me that I regularly follow confirmation bias when looking for information!"
Rebecca Nixon

"I loved the thoroughness. I definitely feel much stronger in my knowledge. it's so simply and logically presented."
Tim Martin

"I liked learning the actual science (even though science is not my strong suit), I definitely learned where this is shortcomings in how we work with this, and how misinformation gets passed on. I'm hoping to change this."
Heather Kellogg

WSI is grateful to Alex Tarnava, CEO of InhaleH₂, for his support in helping launch this initiative. His financial sponsorship has helped make it possible to expand MHI’s educational mission to the broader wellness community and provide resources that promote scientific literacy, critical thinking, and more informed decision-making in the wellness space.
Financial support from sponsors and promotion allows WSI to reach more people, but it does not determine our educational standards, conclusions, or evaluation of any product, company, or claim. Consistent with our mission, we encourage everyone to ask better questions, seek transparency, evaluate evidence carefully, and make informed decisions based on their own circumstances.
